How it Works

truth™ and BZK

Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK), is non-alcohol based and has been in common use for nearly 90 years as a hand hygiene antimicrobial. It has a long history of use in both surface disinfectants used in the food industry and as a skin sanitizer.

It is alcohol-free and lab-tested to ensure FDA compliance at the highest level and E3 or E2 approved for food handlers.

How Does it Work?

Benzalkonium Chloride effectively kills 99.99% of germs by attacking at a cellular level. The mechanism of action for BZK is related to its ability to become absorbed

to and then penetrate the bacterial cell

wall that leads to damage and loss of cell membrane structural integrity. This causes

a leakage of low molecular weight components of the cell and eventually

cell wall lysis.

BZK acts as a protective coating

that forms a glove-like antimicrobial

barrier while killing bacteria on hands

for hours. It may be reapplied numerous times while remaining safe.

Benefits of BZK over
Alcohol-Based Products?

Traditional alcohol-based products only fight germs during the application, not after. The ability of an alcohol-based product to kill germs ends once the product has dried on the skin, losing effectiveness almost immediately. The truth™ BZK-based formula ensures protection up to 4 hours after application, thereby eliminating the need to wash and sanitize hands after the solution has dried routinely.

Unlike alcohol-based products that might leave your hands dry and irritated, our formula helps keep them moisturized and soft even while destroying germs and bacteria in as little as 15 seconds.

BZK is non-staining, non-flammable, and non-damaging to your skin.
